Former Kenyan President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi is dead.
His passing was announced on Tuesday morning by President Uhuru Kenyatta
“It is with profound sadness and sorrow that I announce the passing of a Great African Statesman, H.E. Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, the Second President of the Republic of Kenya. His Excellency the Former President passed on at the Nairobi Hospital in the presence of his family”, Uhuru said.
The late President Daniel arap Moi came to power in 1978 following the death of his predecessor Jomo Kenyatta.
Nyayo, as he came to be popularly known, was sworn in as the second President of Kenya and ruled for 24 years. In 2002 he had decided to exit from politics
